No rush to name new opposition leader: Guan Eng

The Opposition is in no rush to name a new leader to replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is serving a five years' jail sentence for sodomy.

Time is not on his side

The Federal Court unanimously decided that Anwar Ibrahim was guilty of the sodomy charge and would have to serve a five-year jail term. The court verdict has drawn polarized reactions from both sides of the political divide. The Prime Minister's Department said the judges made the final verdict in a balanced and objective manner having considered all the evidences presented, and urged the public to respect the court's verdict. However, the Opposition and some NGOs still see this as a judgment dominated by politics.
