PETALING JAYA, May 17 (MySinchew) -- Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that he would double up as Education Minister, while Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would helm the Women Affairs Ministry.

"I take over education portfolio because there are so many people who are uneducated. Besides, our way of teaching is outdated and we need to decide a new way of teaching," he told the press after the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting at Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.

The Prime Minister said the PH presidential council meeting decided that the new cabinet would have 25 ministries but could be increased in future if the need arises.

Tun Mahathir also announced that the PH presidential council would comprise six members, namely Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah, Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu, besides himself.

He added that the complete cabinet line-up could be announced tomorrow and that the swearing-in ceremony on Monday for ministers would involve 13 people.
