No dice games for Muslims: ustaz

  • Shahul Hamid says while chess, snake-and-ladder and other dice games are not gambling per se, they could tempt a person into gambling.

PENANG, Oct 20 (MySinchew) -- In a YouTube video uploaded in January 2016, controversial religious teacher Ustaz Shahul Hamid Seeni Muhammad said Muslims should not play un-Islamic games such as chess, snake-and-ladder, Saidina, Millionaire and other dice games.

He said while these games were not gambling per se, they could tempt a person into gambling.

He also said young people nowadays like to play online games and would start betting after some time, adding that such games that could potentially lead to gambling are forbidden by Islam.
