1MDB witnesses fear for their safety: FBI

  • FBI says potential witnesses in the 1MDB case have expressed fear for their own safety if they were to speak with the investigators.

PETALING JAYA, Sept 6 (MySinchew) -- The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said some potential witnesses in the 1MDB case had expressed fear for their own safety if they were to speak with the investigators.

In a federal court filing in Los Angeles, the FBI requested that the names of its informants be kept secret as they had expressed concerns of retaliation.

An agent cited Malaysian press reports from August 30 of the shooting of former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail's driver as a possible warning.

Abdul Gani was leading the probe into 1MDB until he was replaced in 2015.
