KOTA BHARU, Apr 18 (MySinchew) -- Former minister in the prime minister's department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said he was prepared to take the Kelantan state government to court for ordering night market businesses to halt for 15 minutes during evening prayers.
He felt that the Kelantan state government should not try to restrict the business hours of traders in the name of religion.
He wrote on Facebook and Twitter that it was illegal to stop night market traders from doing their businesses during evening maghrib prayers and that he would file a suit against the state government this week.
He also said it was illegal for the state government to ban traders from selling food to Muslims before 3.00 p.m. during the Ramadan fasting month.
"Well, Allah will decide if I am jahil (ignorant of divine guidance), not some half-baked ulamas seeking political positions in Kelantan."
