PETALING JAYA, Feb 23 (Sin Chew Daily) -- Minister in the prime minister's department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak made a special statement during yesterday's cabinet meeting that he would soon brief the non-Muslim community in the country on the proposed RUU355 amendments.
He told Sin Chew Daily so far he only knew about PAS president Hadi Awang's version of RUU355 amendments, and was not sure whether there were any changes in the government's version.
"We will attend the briefing to get to know the content of RUU355. If the amendments contravene the country's Constitution, I will voice my opposition."
Meanwhile, minister in the prime minister's department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan told Sin Chew Daily the cabinet had discussed RUU355 several months ago although the cabinet had another lengthy discussion of the issue on Wednesday's meeting.
"The cabinet has not decided which minister to table the bill. It could be Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom or Azalina Othman Said."
Abdul Rahman said there could be changes to Hadi Awang's version of RUU355 amendments, but he did not know the details.
